Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship

We offer a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology. Fellows would choose their primary focus to be either EMG/neuromuscular or EEG/epilepsy, in accordance with the ACGME guidelines. Throughout this one-year fellowship, trainees will acquire the skills necessary to practice as independent clinical neurophysiologists, and gain a wide range of exposure in their primary area of focus.

The EMG/neuromuscular track emphasizes clinical training in EMG, in addition to time spent in the general neuromuscular, myasthenia gravis, and ALS clinics. Our Neurodiagnostic laboratory is the only laboratory in the DC area that is accredited by the AANEM with exemplary status. The EEG/epilepsy track offer in-depth exposure to adult-EEG reading, including intracranial monitoring and electrocorticography, provided by our Level-4 epilepsy center. For both tracks, there is ample exposure to didactic sessions, and both basic and clinical research projects. Electives are also available in intraoperative monitoring and sleep disorders.

All fellows are expected to take the ABPN Clinical Neurophysiology boards, and depending on their interest, are eligible to take the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
